If you live near a Harbor Freight store, the below tool chest set is in sale for $199.99 thru Dec 26.

I would try to get one with ball-bearings. The ones with just metal sliders will warp and get jammed from the weight of the tools.

craftsman ball bearing toolboxes will make a great starter box. I still have mine and I've worked professionally in the automotive field for a few years. In my oppinion go for the features, not the name. The craftsman boxes are more than enough for a hobbyist. Spend your money on high end tools.

Yeah get a craftsman/kobalt box, Lowe's always has a good selection for my needs. They're more than good enough for a home garage. I've got two of them and will probably be adding a 3rd this summer.

Like MCStone said, spend money on the best tools.

I looked at buying one of those some time ago...I wouldn't recommend one. They are pretty light weight.

i was thinking it was an s2000 specific tool box, something that would fit in the jack hole...

in my garage i have an old bureau for a tool box, driving inside reminds me of a bedroom...

im looking around to purchase a toolbox. i never had one.... i found this one.

are these good for car tool box??? good price?
For this box, it is listed about 70 below retail. It is not really a tool box. It is a service cart. A large service cart at that. Matco change to that box style about mid year this year, so that box can't be that old. I would bet if you talked to a Matco dealer (they al drive the trucks) you could get a new one for that.

Personally, I have one of those on order. I have a huge box, but I need something to work out of. Just to store the tools and parts I am working with. I think it is far too small for a real tool storage box.

Since it is your first box, I would really gauge the storage space you need based on the tools you have or plan to have. I would buy them first. Craftsman has a great selection of tools and boxes at great prices (for the quality and warrenty).

Take a look at this one. 299

And this tool set.

For less then the Matco box, you can get the Craftsman box and tool set.

For a solid investment I'd go with the Sears Craftsman tool boxes and tools. Generally speaking they are guaranteed for life ("satisfaction guaranteed or your money back"), and you can always find a Sears to get the replacement. I've used them for ~40 years and have only had a 1/4" rachet needing replacement. If you really plan to get into working on cars, then you will need the heavier duty tool chest as collecting good tools seems to become an end in itself.

Actually the Matco boxes are built stronger then the Snap On boxes. Both are boxes that will last a life time.

The Snap on KRA2007 is a nice box.

Add the top box

So for his top, mid and bottom, 1K would be a good deal. I would guess it sold for atleast 3K new.

Personally I want one of these. That is if it did not cost 9K+

My personal box looks like these two.

But what really are you looking for? Just storage? You already have tools?
