Took the S to the track for first time.Poor Supra

i didn not get angry or upset by any of these post but drjekyll2000 calling a car that can make such high horse power rice is just plain dumb. i understandthe hp to weight with the S but i would never call a car thats faster and capable of a lot more than my car rice or junk or anythign to put it down. im selling my S to get another supra because i rather have the fast 1/4 mile and top end. the S is a great car and i was not trying to cut it down in anty of my posts.
unfortunatly there are a lot of people out there who have fast nice cars and think they are hot shit and can run good 1/4 times just because the car puts down a lot of hp.
i totaly understand what russ was trying to say i was not trying to cut the S down.

S=a 2 seater open roadster that handles better than anything i've personally driven.
Turbo Supra=Straight up drag monster.
Um...this has been beaten to death, its comparing apples to oranges. Now everyone get over it!

Calling supras "rice" is an insult. There are far more "rice" s2000's out there, and I think honda has the bag when it come to rice. I think it would take more than a 315 rwhp s2k to take a BPU supra, the supra actually has some good torque. To the poor guy in the supra trying to drag is single with 19" is foolish. Right after I got my trubo kit on my supra I was "only" putting down 490 rwhp I took my car to the track. The first run a fellow supra owner let me borrow his drag radials. Unknown to me under high load the drags started to rub against my fenders so I had to shut down before the 1/8 and coast down the track. I got a whopping 13.03 @ 78 mph. The rest of the day I ran with my 18" volks. I couldn't bust better that a 13.7 but my traps where around 120. I had guys in BPU supras beating me, infact when I was BPU I was running faster. I was having the same traction problems, spinning my tires down track. Letting off the gas doesn't help, you lose boost, and spend more time trying to respool your turbos than spinning down the track waitng to hook up. Put some slicks on that supra instead of 19" and I know 11's or even 10's are possible.

hey bpukiller thank you very much for your input on this because not many have owned supras on here and i had a bpu supra and belive me as light as a S is its gonna take a a lot more than a superchrager to even come close to running with a bpu on the tarck and on the highway forget it. its just that i cant understand some peolpe's stupidity how can you call a 400hp+ supra rice??????

First of all, I know the s2000 IS NOT A DRAG CAR (geez... don't you guys read? I was comparing to a '67 nova). NO 4cylinder car is a drag car compared to MOST of the big-block monsters on the track (I know... everyone has heard a story from a friend of a friend of a civic beating a blown chevelle, but I have never seen it ON THE TRACK)
Secondly, you can put 10,000 hp to the rear tires but if you can't get traction what good does it do? TRACTION, either by weight transfer or AWD is how you make cars get into the 10's and 9's. And, quite frankly, the design of most imports does not lend as well to drag setups (ladder bar suspensions and tubbed-out chassis) as well as, say, a rusted out '67 nova.
Third of all, when you are talking about souping up imports... don't even mention $$$. I know guys who have less cash in "gassed" 9 second mustangs than most people put in just an aftermarket turbo.
And finally... some people just can't see the world through their own rectum. Or even see the post! I mentioned that I would like to have a supra to play with and see how quick I can make it go(just to be a little different). In my experience (and I have been to many tracks a lot of times) but it sure seems that whenever imports do show up at the track it's ususally because some guy thinks he is fast because he's got an aftermarket turbo in his rx7 or supra. Typically he has "racing" stickers all over it and funky electronics inside, an exhaust that's too loud, and a mouth that's even louder. But he usually leaves after running 12's on a REALLY good day against a guy running 11's in a '71 camaro that still has an 8-track in the dash. So sue me if I have the wrong stereotype. You'll need the money after losing your paycheck to that guy in the rusted out POS(it might even be me )!

Just because an import has a million hp does not make make it immune to rice syndrome. One great example comes immediately to mind.. Fast n Furious. I don't care how much power that pull-me-over orange Supra has, it is R I C E. How they could inflict such cosmetic damage to an otherwise awesome sports/gt car is beyond me. That 500ft tall wing with the crappy graphics and 20" bling blings are just wrong PERIOD. Same goes for the S2000 in the same movie..
In any case, some consider ALL Japanese cars rice so don't get so offended...
just my .02..

why do so many insist that the S2000 motor has a low potential for adding
horsepower???
Isn't this the same block in 1 litre displacement that honda used to build the first F1
1litre that produced over 1500 B.H.P. . Yeah I know it isn't anything like streetable, but then (even though for completely different reasons) what makes someone with a twin turbo Supra producing 1000+ HP that "can't hook up in second gear if they get on it, due to wheel spin, think that they
have a streetable car. What good is all that HP when you can't use it??
Kinda like the guy's that buy a titanium 357 mag revolver for concealed
carry and then load it with 38 special cartridges because the recoil is intolerable......
Oh well just my $0.02 worth.

an abrupt delivery of enormous amount of power does not compare to smooth power delivery, that's why Supra only race from a (high speed) roll, unless they're wearing slicks
and that's why 600, 700, 800 horsepower Supra only run 12's (with high trap speed though)
you see more BPU supra running 11's on street radial than those high power monster

I love the last gen Supras and think they are phenominal machines, but I'm a tech-geek who thinks singular topics when discussing automobiles make for counter productive conversation. This is why I said the S2000 would not require 400hp at the wheels to receive performance parity with a Supra that is putting out that number. One is a GT and the other is a true sportscar, so once again, we have two cars with two completely different purposes. I've always thought of the Supra as a interstate carver while the S2000 is more of a canyon carver. I could easily see a cross country trip in a Supra being an interesting, if not quick, experience but I'm not sure I would enjoy it as much as the S2000 if most of that trip included winding roads thru the woods of anywhere USA.
Still, it's like comparing a Glock to a sawed off shotgun. They'll both get the job done.
