Tonneau Cover Questions
Hi,
Found a good deal ($50) on an OEM leather tonneau cover with a couple scuffs that will probably come right out (from storage).
Anyway, I'm curious if I should get it. Does it perform a real function, besides looks? Does it keep the top components cleaner or something?
My main question, to see if I'll actually use it, is how long does it take to put on and off and how difficult is it? If it's a five to ten minute process, I probably will never do it.
And how much of the trunk does it take up when you put it in there?
Any other reasons to get one?

did the car come with a cover or was it an option? or was leather an option?
Imo it cleans up the car, and could help keep the top protected from the sun or leaves getting into it, but really I just think its for looks because if your top is down then your interior is gonna get any possible dirt anyway.

the only purpose i can see it serving is that it covers up the top when its down. no other purpose. i heard its annoying as hell to put on then take off if you have to put the top up. not worth it if you have to buy it imo. takes up a lot of room in the trunk as well.

It's easy to put on if you know how. I use mine all the time.
To put it on, lay it on top, hook it on one side then walk around pull it toward you and it will snap right on the other stud. Then do the side straps tuck it in and you're done

ps it keeps dirt out of your top, prevents fading on the underside when down, quiets the ride and holds the latch brackets so they don't rub on the top.

I use mine frequently and it pretty much falls into place often times I will get a couple of the snaps to catch by just placing it on. I only use the four snaps in the back which is sufficient.

Seems like most people don't bother with it. You have to fold it to store it in the trunk and it takes up a lot of trunk space. I've never even attempted to put mine on.
Oh, and it's not leather.
The Roadster Solutions travel boot http://www.roadstersolutions.com/page86.html seems like a better solution to me but I'm not willing to pay that much for it.

It actually isn't a bad idea if you don't mind spending the time putting it on.

Als, most people don't take care of their soft tops very well. When I was checking out some used S2000s, a lot of them had the part on the soft top that's exposed to the sun, etc getting this really grey and brownish colour. Most people don't clean that section when washing the car. It gets a bit disgusting after a while ...
