Default Tonneau cover; any progress?

I know this has been spoken of before. I posting this to inquire as to the status thereof.

Does anyone know?

I want one and I want it now!

When last I "talked" to Rick Hesel, he said they were still waiting on a final prototype. Once they get that, they need to figure out production requirements, etc. So I'd say you're at least a couple of months away from being able to order. But you'll have to wait in line behind me.

I ordered one from Top Notch Auto Accessories. I haven't received it yet, but should any day now. I believe their site is www.topnotchauto.com. Try it out.

Well, needless to say I haven't seen it yet, but my understanding is it will be a full tonneau cover, not just a boot cover. I'm eagerly looking forward to it, since I kinda don't like to leave my S2K with the interior entirely exposed, but also don't like to put the top up and down all the time or deal with putting the car cover on.

I'm in line for an authentic tonneau cover as well. ( A real one covers the entire passenger compartment, including the top well, and zips up in the middle, so you can even drive with the passenger side still covered if you like.)

The top cover we have now is a useless piece of crap IMHO.

What we're talking about here is a full blown British roadster style tonneau cover, which would cover the entire passenger compartment, zip up the middle, and could be left in place at speed. The covercraft unit is in a completely different league and serves a different purpose...

I had tonneaus with my MGA and TR4 in the old days, and would dearly love to have one for the S2000.

But I'll believe it's possible when I see one. There are three things about the S2000 that, in combination, make it much more difficult:

1. The roll hoops;

2. The lack of all those nice, handy snaps all around the cockpit; and

3. The "at speed" part, which is a hell of a lot more speed than those old British heaps had.

But if somebody can build it, I will definitely come. Er, I mean, buy one...
