Tomorrow we VTEC...
I've had a lot of fun the last week under 5500 RPM. You really don't need to work the engine to appreciate how this car handles. It's an amazing car! It's only 25 miles from 600 and I thought about opening it up on the way home tonight. It probably wouldn't make any difference, but this way I've got something to look forward to on the drive to work in the morning! I wonder if I'll actually make it to the office on time.

WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!! VTEC ROCKS!!!
sorry for yelling but WOW!!!
I had to get out and check under the hood to make sure someone didn't put a turbo charger in there...LOL j/k.
I see what others are complaining about with the '04's though, power onset is not as abrupt as I was expecting but still noticeable in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, (couldn't VTEC any higher gears as I was already at 85MPH!!!)...but maybe I can explain...the HP and torque are there alright, it is just available sooner...even before VTEC kicks in yeilding a more useful powerband below 6K rpm yet still exhilarating when VTEC does kick in. The gradual climb into VTEC is smooth because the HP and torque are already in use before VTEC and then even more after VTEC but less abruptly. Do not be deceived though...if you think the '04 is tame (tamer than earlier models) just look out your window at the world whizzing by violently. I was above 100mph so fast I didn't even have time to exhale from when I readied myself for the "VTEC kick" I had heard about. No, the '04 is just as much a beast as any previous model (or more so) I would wager. The proof is in the 0-60 or in my case the 0-100+ times.

ijust got the magic 600 miles on friday, wow, this is some powerful rush to get used to...the car just plain climbs..and it climbs prior to the 6,000 rpm magic spot where the car then begins to scream...scream in each gear and i have only gotten to 85 mph but wow, super fast...this feels like 5+ second 0-60 car.

I hit 600 miles last week, got a little taste of Vtec at that point, but I waited till 1k miles this weekend to get the full 8k rpms. Yeah, this car just piles on speed when you let it rip. I was at about 120 with the top down before I realized just how fast I was going.
