Toddlers in the S

This is actually the reason I traded in my S2000 for a RX8 4 years ago. We had our first child and needed something with a back seat for my little angle when my wife was at work or out in the CRV. I will say it would have been better financially to keep the S2000 as it holds its value way better than my Mazda.

I would like to chime in and say that you are one lucky SOB for working only on the weekends.
Also, I'm a 80s baby and I grew up just fine being in 80's Hyundai with no seat belt and no baby seats. I sat on my mom's lap when we went driving. As a matter of fact, my pops put all our family on his 125cc motorcycle (4 members total) and went to parks, beaches and mountains.
Anyhow, as a dad myself now, there are freaking too many damn safety equipment for the babies now days. I think this is overly done to be honest. Overly emphasized, overly brain-washing people into safety.
Those who's following the manual, you all know people can be killed/hurt on anything right? do me a favor and read a motorcycle manual. it will give you death warning every other pages.
If you want to put your child in your S2000, go ahead. I'm not mad. I would like to do that myself as soon as possible. as long as you know the airbag won't reach your child, and as long as you are not driving like a maniac, it should be ok to do so.

I had a huge discussion on this with the NSX and R8 owners....also a thread here, let me find it in a second.
To be frank, I also have an s2000 after looking at the various options we decided we will NOT put my kid in the s2000 until they are at least 5 years old.
Regardless what you decide, it's your kid and ultimately you will be responsible. At the very least you need to disconnect your airbag system for the passenger seat.

I've never understood what logic people use for this argument. Once a kid it's okay? The rear seat, middle, rear facing is the safest at any age/size. You don't see people having their wife sit back there. The s2000 is just as safe for an infant as a 5 year old, although obviously less safe than a larger vehicle. So many variables yet people love to judge.

The safety level of a car depends on how it is designed and not its size. It is much easier to just look at the crash test results.
Back on topic. To see if the toddler can safely sit in a car, make sure the seat belt is over the hip bone and not their stomach. Also, disable the airbag.
