Default Toddler in S2000; Airbag disable.

During this entire year I've been without my S2K as it just wasn't feasible to tax the car when we have nowhere to go during Lockdown! This coupled with my little one only being 2 and a bit years old he wouldn't be able to travel in the S. In the wifes lupo he sits in a non isofix belted forward facing seat now he's a little older and he has these last few weekends clocked his dads S2000 in the garage and talks about it everytime he's in the garden. I'd like to ensure he can go for a few local drives if my daily isn't playing ball with me (which at the moment it's currently stranded on the drive).

I've been looking at ways to get him in the S2000 safely but understand the AIRBAG can't be turned off. I can of course disconnect the airbag behind the dash but this will then compromise the airbag system if I have read correctly?

If I pull the squib connector for the airbag on passenger side will the drivers airbag be inactive? If pulled will the seatbelt restraint system no longer function? From what I am aware the seatbelt reel will still lock in the event of severe deceleration.

I have ran track cars before with harnesses etc and no airbag so assume that the boys and girls who track their S2K will know the best solution here?

Sorry if in the wrong location just trying to find a solution before I end up selling to find something both of us can enjoy together in the next few years.

Its old and USA based but might be relevant. You could check the appropriate country forums as well.

Personally, I wouldn't have a kiddo in the car until they can at least be in a booster seat. Kind of ironic as my grandmother used to joyride with me in her MGB when I was in diapers, and that's a tin can compared to an S, but we've learned some things over the years about safety it seems.
