Default Toda cams dyno results

Well, my thread in the UTH forum isn't getting as much traffic/comments as I expected, so I thought I'd cross-post here. Anyway, here is the link:

I know this a dollars and cents thing but I'll say what I have to say and go on .
You can't change one thing and expect a hugh change on such a finely tuned engine from the factory as the F20C.
The Cam change would probably shown more promise with cylinder head work, intake manifold work, exhaust header/cat-back work, fuel injector matching, throttle body work, and ECU remapping.

Bottom line Marcus, you spent a lot of money to go slower and you "put the cart before the horse"

Trust me I'm not flaming!!!! I think you were misled from the start.

Popeye-

I agree that all of the things that you mention would improve the performance of the engine with the Toda cams in it... however, those things would also improve the performance of the engine with the stock cams. It doesn't make sense for the Toda cams to make less power than the stock cams in *any* configuration.

Edit: Also, I have seen others that have had similar losses on cars with modifications (intake/exhaust/fuel tuning). So, I don't think this problem is limited to cars that are stock.

Ok,let me try and explain another way. If you are done with your mods then you have waisted money;but if this is step 1 then I believe that the effects of the cam change will be better realized after the rest of the mods are complete.

I'm not suprised on the poor return on investment on just a cam change;but further improvments in horsepower might not have achievable without the cam change.

I'm definitely not finished with mods. Normally, this probably would've been my last mod, but an opportunity arose for me to get the work done while I was out of the country (and wouldn't be impacted by having extended downtime), so I took advantage of it.

Regardless, I can see no reason that this cam swap would cause me to lose power, even though the rest of my components have not been upgraded. In a previous thread that I read, someone stated that Toda claims that the cams were designed to beef up the midrange as well as add top-end power. Unfortunately, I haven't experienced either beefed-up midrange *or* top-end power. Another quote mentioned that the cams would make around 10hp on a stock engine. I definitely didn't see that. Unless there was a typo and they meant (-10)hp.

Anyway... we're still brainstorming, and hopefully we'll figure out root cause and be able to address it.
