What about Goodyear...Do they make any good tires which would be good in the rain for the Stook?

Another tire with overly hard rubber. That tire would most likely be better suited on a Civic or Integra....not the S2000.

Several people have tried them...try searching old threads. But I wouldn't recommend them unless you live somewhere where it rains 75% of the time. The PPs are inherently narrow (in all sizes) which makes for better rain handling, but not-so-good dry handling.

How do they directly compare with the OEM S-02s? With double the treadwear rating (compared to the stock tires) I would expect them to be distinctly less grippy.

they have a wear rating of 280 or so, so NO, they do not compare... plus they are under $100 each, so ......ya get what ya pay for.

You do know that running wider tires doesn't get you a larger contact patch (if you're keeping the air pressure the same). The wider tires will make your contact patch wider, but also shorter. The wider contact patch will give you more lateral grip (when compared to the same tire that not as wide) but since the contact patch is shorter it will also likely decrease acceleration and increase stopping distance.

STL,

I'd have to say they are a couple notches lower in performance. This is in all aspects! It is especially annoying to go around every corner and hear your tires "chirping" intermitantly as they go over the painted lines of a crosswalk. The steering response is vague, and I can tell the sidewalls are MUCH softer because the car responds slower to inputs. I also notice the CD skips less and the highway ride is softer. If I had to choose between the RE-730 and the Kumho 712, I would probably go with the Kumho. I don't know, but I was really disappointed with the 730 (for different reasons than Scot). At this point I might simply go back to the OE tire. I figure I could get around 10K on them since I've got a second set of rims/tires for racing.
