Tired of being Killed

I find it ironic that for all the motorsports Honda has participated in and subsequently dominated, DRAG RACING is not one of them. Yet, the (primarily American) use for modified Honda and Acura product is drag racing. I just don't understant this "lack of torque" arguement. With the gearing this car has, there is plenty of torque at the wheels. The only time I really found the car didn't have enough torque was when I was forced to follow a large truck up a VERY steep hill at around 10 MPH. I could barely keep the engine lit!

So you only drive fast on the track? You never enjoy a spirited drive in the twisties? What if you were following a Ferrari through the twisties and grinning 'cause you were keeping up? Is that not racing? I am 100% positive you have a corner that you love to go fast through. What if a guy in a TT followed you fast? Would you stop for fear he might think it was a race? Whats the maturity difference between that and going fast in a straight line? Just because you don't like it doesnt make it wrong. Many more people die or wreck by taking a corner too fast than going fast in a straight line so safety is not the issue. I agree that the track is the best place to do full out 1/4 mile races. 0-60 light to light is not in my mind a problem.
Whether or not a Honda is the right car for the job of drag racing legal or otherwise is up to the person driving it and no one else. I saw a guy in a minivan racing at the track a few weeks ago. He was having fun and he beat a ricey neon to boot. I raced a bigazz Chevy 4x4 truck running in 4wd with NOS and nearly got beat. I know a guy that Solo 2s a Geo Metro 3 cylinder. He has a blast. If you dont want to drag your S2k then fine. Don't tell someone else they are stupid for doing it because this car wasn't designed for it. It's designed for fun which can be had in many different forms.

Colin: I agree. You never know whats going to jump out at you. Doing 155mph on I-70 at 4am with no cars around is not a smart move and I would never condone that type of behavior! Racing in and out of traffic is stupid and pisses me off. Excessively speeding next to someone else who is excessively speeding on an open highway with no traffic ahead is still just speeding. Accelerating quickly from a light next to someone else doing the same is for the benefit of the cars behind you. They can get more cars through in one light. The faster you go the faster the cars behind you can go hence more cars can get through in the alotted time. Whether they take advantage of your consideration is up to them.
