The motor may still need more miles on it. Have you dyno'd your car yet?

It's possible that you are down on top end power for some reason. The slips show that you're in good shape early on. Your 1/8th seems to be 4-5 MPH off the pace. Maybe you have a clogged fuel or air filter, which mostly shows up first near peak power cuz that is where the most air/fuel is needed. Or a bad tank of gas. My E30 M3 got a tank of bad gas recently which partially clogged the fuel filter. When dynoed, it was off by 25 HP, but the low and midrange were just fine. Very noticeable with the old butt dyno. Let us know what it turns out to be.

What was the elevation you ran in, temperature? Did you have a lof gas and garbage in the trunk???? Give us more info.

93 mph inicates something is definately wrong since your 60 feets are ok.

a weak top end is what i concluded myself since my launches were pretty good and the fact that type R's were getting 96mph!!! as for my trunk, i had no junk in the car, two bars of gas, and i only weigh 120lbs plus my 44lbs hardtop... i think the elevation was about 1000ft above sealevel and about 80 degrees. i dont think that the ambience was a factor since i saw many teg R's getting better trap speeds and et's than i did... how can i find out how my topend is being affected and how can i fix it?

Mike,

Which track did you run at? Carlsbad is at 330 ft. Palmdale is at around 2600 ft. Fontana should be sub 1000 ft, but I haven't checked (any airports nearby there? Check the elevation at Ontario).

Aside from a dramatic loss of power, some other things to check include your tire pressure. If it's low, it'll help on the launch (and your's were fine, certainly fast enough for around 14.0, you'll need to knock them down if you want to run 13s). However, the extra drag will hurt you on the top end. I once went from a 14.2@99 to a 13.9@96 on slicks just by dropping the tire pressure a few lbs. The difference isn't as large on radials, but...

4600 miles should be enough, but you never know. Shifting is really critical too. When you shift, you're not accelerating. This really hurts on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift if you're slow. Shouldn't cost you that much trap speed though. Also, don't sweat the ITRs. Unless they were stock, doesn't really matter, and most that go to the drags aren't stock.

ahhh im sooo frustrated... now i know the s2k isnt a drag car but still... i want it to hit low 14's. i was running 34psi all the way around, but isnt the tire presure only important with the launch which i have no problem with. now i think i can factor out the bad shifting because i got one of my runs on tape and my rpms barely droped between each shift. now that driver error is pretty much not a factor how can i go about checking what is wrong with the topend power of my car? could it be a cloged fuel injection system, low compression, or perhaps no vtec engadgement? im gonna take it to the drags on the 6th again and hopefully you guys can help me get my car running to its full potential.
Thanks for the replys, keep'em coming!
