Your oil is good to go, just start it up and go have fun. A good site for oil ? is "Bob is the oil guy"

Thanks for all the feedback everybody. I've been a little up in the air on it (obviously) but I think I'm going to change it out for some fresh Castrol Syntec for peace of mind's sake. Just getting back into S2KI as a resource and chatting is getting me pumped to get back behind the wheel.

My S2000 goes down on the ground in a month or so (probably after I pay my taxes on 15 April!) it you want to wait and use my little lift (like the avatar shows now). You'll just need oil and a new crush washer.

When did you last change the transmission and differential oils? Just need the oil and washers tor those too. Once she's on the lift it all changes easily.

I'm in 44147.

Chuck - thanks and seriously appreciate the offer, but don't think it'd be necessary. I've got some ramps that make it real easy. It's great to see someone else from Cleveland, though - not enough S2K's around here...

The manual states the following regarding oil changes:

"If the message ‘‘SERVICE DUE NOW’’ does not appear more than 12 months after the display is reset, change the engine oil every year."

I only drove mine 800 gentle miles last year due to a hectic job and travel. Probably will be an 18 month interval for me.

The real issue with oil sitting a long time is if the oil is old. It will have picked up a lot of caustic byproducts of combustion, and left sitting, will eat away at bearing surfaces, etc.

But your oil only had 700 miles, so its very clean.

The issue is letting bad oil sit, not good oil going bad from sitting.

As a neurologist, I'm sorry to read of your condition. I'm in a position where I have to tell people that they can't drive for a certain amount of time and it's not easy from the other side of the table, either.

I put about 3k miles on my S a year and no matter what, I change out that oil yearly for peace of mind.

Good to see another Clevelander on here. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/forum/95-ohio-s2000-club/
