Default Thoughts on Interior/exterior "protection" plans

The dealership I bought the car from keeps calling me about a "protection package" for the interior and exterior. Supposedly reduces UV damage to leather (guarantee for 5yrs) and protects the dash, etc. Also, there is a coating the put on the exterior that is guaranteed to keep the paint from fading. The want 499.00 for it. I love my car and want to protect it, but some of the claims seem like BS. Anybody had this done top their car......thoughts/advice
Thanks,
10-blade

It's simply a big profit item for the dealer. The total cost of "product" to do the inside and outside for the dealer is about 10 bucks and throw in about an hour's labour from some poor schmuck who makes next to nothing per hour.

I did it. I figured that if anything went wrong with the paint that I would let the dealer handle it. The way they put it is if in anyway shape or form the paint fades, or discolors or is damaged in anyway that the dealer will take care of the paint. As for the leather it was just a starch to protect the leather. But I Armoral it all the time now, like when ever I wash my car. I thought it was worth the peace of mind.
You could probably do with out the leather treatment though, as long as plan to protect it. My car is only parked outside when Im at work or out somwhere, my car is ALWAYS in the garauge.
