Good luck on financing a 15 year old car.

is it really different than financing a 8-9 year old car?

if he's trying to get a loan I would try a credit union and I've seen online people mention state farm financing with no car age limits.

but I did misread the post and thought for some reason the car was less than the $17k he mentioned. At that price I would just keep looking for a lower mileage ap2

Buying any car "two states away" could prove to be a hassle as well. Depends on the size of the states, of course.

Thanks to everyone for the insight. Turns out the 2008 went through 2 leases which makes it less appealing to me. I'm going to keep looking

To each his own. Personally I prefer the ap1 cars. I suspect most like the ap2 cars a bit better than the ap1s.

You should get the car you enjoy driving the most unless you are talking about putting the car away for 20 years as some sort of investment.

I will say this - I like the glass rear window and I would look for that, or for a discounted older plastic window model year that needs a new top anyway and then replace it with glass.

Saw this on eBay. (I have nothing to do with this sale)

I happen to have one of the 38 2009 Rio Yellow cars. I first found my car on eBay but it never sold for several months; a dealer in Phoenix had it and the reserve was never reached. I contacted the dealer and asked about it (and the reserve) They wanted WAY too much for the car. I gave them some info on the real value, they came down $5K and a deal was made. Two weeks later I flew down to Sky Harbor Airport, they picked me up and I drove 2 days home on a great road trip. My face was hurting from smiling so much. One owner, 30k miles. Book value but I got exactly what I wanted.
