For those who experience 1st to 2nd gear grind...
I'm sure that everyone who owns an S2K realizes that the transmission is a precision instrument in this car. After noticing that I too was beginning to experience some notchiness and grinding while shifting from 1st to 2nd gear (mostly while the transmission was warming up), I remembered reading a thread from UTH where Xviper was explaing to a poster on a similar topic that he may be cutting corners on his shifting which was making it difficult for the synchros to help guide him into the gears.
So I decided to analyze my shifting technique by trying to find out where the 2nd gear synchros actually are in relation to 1st gear. I did this by lightly pulling back on the gear shift with my middle finger and just letting it fall into 2nd gear. There was no grind or notchiness, and without fail, the gear shift moved a little to the right of straight back from 1st gear. My shifting technique prior to discovering where 2nd gear actually is, was to pull back from 1st gear and a little towards me, trying to avoid going into 4th gear. Thus, the notchiness and sometimes grinding when I missed the sweet spot for the synchros. The same can be said for shifting from 3rd to 4th and 5th to 6th (which I already knew, especially for 6th gear).
Try this for yourself and see if it can improve your shifting too.

Not a bad idea in my opinion.
