I wind the car out as many times as I can safely in my commute to work.

Driving home the other day, I was whimsically thinking how little I go into VTEC range. I usually shift around 3000RPM, sometimes a little higher around 4000RPM, but rarely (and I do mean rarely) get up there in the rev range.

Yes, I know its fun but I just rarely do it.

So, for those who are like me, I'm curious. Chime in with your .02.

If i had the roads (mountain / country ones anyway) you guys have there I would live in VTEC, except for the cops I guess which is the big neutralizer.

Here we have wimpy roads that are too congested most of the time for anything, but we don't have the cops. That's why the Evo guys still have fun with their cars: they can torque all day to 50mph filling gaps as they open up. The S doesn't do that so easily...

I sometimes go days without using VTEC. I get around 250rwhp right at 5600 where VTEC engages so shifting at 4-5K is where you all are shifting at 9K

I feel sorry for those who don't hit at least 6k daily. Poor souls...

84 in a 45 zone? The cops will love this.
Just remember 2 things

1) It was a group drive it was OK
2) We were slowing down so even less worries

Daily driver for me so I don't need to VTEC very often. I average 26mpg on my mostly highway commute. That mileage is pretty handy these days. I drive it a little more aggressively than an average car but I don't see the need to race it at 100 percent across town. I see the motor red line as a limit not just a shift point.

I think slow cars have to be proven how fast they are more often than a truely fast car.

I don't know about you, but most people get an impression of the S2000 is a fast car. I had a guy who asked me at a light if it was a 12 cylinders under the hood.

If you don't at least redline once a week, you really are missing out buddy. It's not to prove anything to anyone. It's just for our enjoyment.

Once you VTEC, you'll never go back.
