Default Thinking of a S2K, QUESTIONS.....

Went to a Honda dealer to price one yesterday. It was $32k + 4700 mark up but the sales said it can be mine for 1500 over sticker which i think i can eliminate that if i was ready.
Then there's the hot debate question: SC or turbo, i think im gonna go with SC 'cause its less complications from what i've read on this board so far. I read all about the low end turbo and high-end SC stuff, so dont want to make this heated debate here....
And last i would like to see pics of ur extreme rides with wheels and aero-kits, i went to the gallery section and there isnt much to see there. Can u guys post pics or web links of really "tuned" looking S2ks?? Thanks a bunch.

John.

I saw on ebay today 2 S2000's, new, with a buy it now for $29.9K, dont know what the market is like there but anything over $33k sounds like rape to me!

V8-What

P.S. Mine went for $32,860 they would not budge, but i walked away from a lease on my old car with 1yr left, 43k of my 48k miles, and about $2k in rim/door ding dmg, i was not complaining!

Please don't put forced induction on the S2000. It's not right. This is a 9krpm four-pot with 10.5:1 compression! You don't put a SC or turbo on one of these.

First of all, it's flat-out wrong, as the S2000 was made famous by its world-record hp/liter ratio of 120; slap on a turbo, and it loses all of its credibility. Secondly, an engine of this sort does NOT favor forced induction. If you beef up the internals, maybe you can run with it reliably, but a stock engine can't take this sort of abuse. Well, the F20C can, but not the headgaskets or cylinder heads.

I haven't heard of any blown headgaskets or messed up cylinder heads because of forced induction. I have no plans to turbo or SC my S2000, but I also have no problems with those who do. It's your car, do what you want as long as you're educated about what you're doing. Putting a supercharger on your car isn't nearly as dire as alexf20c is making it out to be based on the many happy owners on this board who have them.

Also, don't pay a penny over MSRP. There are way too many good deals to be had in other parts of the country, even after paying shipping out to California. This is a 50 state car so apparently that makes it easier for you Californians to buy it out of state.

well im not the kind of guy to leave well enough alone, especially power! I always want more power, but after reading R/Ts article about the vortec SC which puts out 100+ more hp and cuts only .3 off the 1/4mile time. Im thinking maybe i shouldnt mess with it like u said. But to give them credit they do gain like 6-7??mph on the trap speed which is pretty good. And mid-range to top end is what im interested in anyway. I dont really care if its the same performance around town or lower end. But yea, after reading that coverage, i think i can go cheap and save that $5k. Do anyone of u have a S/Ced s2k that i can take a ride in SoCal???

There is. Drive for a while without, like 36K miles. Then when your warranty is done you should have enough knowledge to make a well informed decision.

Don't buy a used S for over $27,000. Unless it's a 2002.
