Old thread bump, lol

I might go this route, but probably with just the unloved regular tonneau cover.

And a cover for the interior when it's out.

It is still a dumb idea. Why not take the doors off too, and really get the al fresco experience?

And if you are going to use the normal cover, why remove the top at all? The normal cover is built to fit over the top, so no need to remove the roof to get the look.

I don't have a soft-top, I had a similar brilliant idea when I was in college. I thought losing 60lbs would be worth losing the option to cover up in the rain. I wish I hadn't..... but it does make a great storage area!

With that being said, the most stressful days of my life are when I drive topless, because rain can come from nowhere. Half my family lives in Florida, and rain comes from nowhere. Then again you have only put 500mi on yours in the last few years.

Uhhhh, weight reduction. It's relatively easy to lose 150lbs on a S2k.

U can lose 100lbs and still keep the soft top.

30 lbs spare/tools
10lbs header
4 lbs intake
7 lbs air pump delete
10+ lbs wheels/tires
10 lbs light weight battery
25 lbs single exhaust
7lbs test pipe
4 lbs NO washer fluid

I added 25lbs of OEM Front lip, rear wing, and side strikes, so I had to add that weight back on.

Oh, I didn't know you were building a track car! You can also pull the whole dash out, carpet, passenger seat, etc...

Honestly if you are just enjoying the car, you'll have a better time with a working top (soft or hard) than taking it out. Everyone I know who has a CR or no top wither a - always leaves the top on because of weather or whatever, or b - takes it off and worries the whole time about rain, bird crap, people, etc.

Putting a CR cover on would be one thing, but if you're just going to use the soft boot, I don't think the weight loss is worth it.

Yank that soft top out. I didn't have a hardtop for a month while I was in between tops but I did have a garage and the S was my weekend toy. Only annoying part of not having a hardtop and no soft top is lack of privacy. Never got rained on, birds never shat on my interior, and people stare but don't f@#k with my car. I didn't care about weight saving, I don't track it, just cruise and spirited driving but -100 lbs or whatever it was is a plus. CR tonneau weighs nothing even with the hardware.

I hope that wasn't sarcasm, lol... Joking

My way loses weight, but still looks Presentable.

Guy I bought my OEM hardtop, had his soft top removed, and it didn't look bad bare.

Mine is also a Garage Queen (probably only way this works) and I pick and choose when to drive it.
