Default Thinking about buying S2k

So i have a base rsx and thinking about trading it in for a S2K.
I've been reading this forum for quite a few times and s2k seems like a decent car, the only concern right now is the soft top. Thinking about getting an AP1 with around 50k miles.
I'm getting mixed answer from members from here and from some of my friends that had a s2k before some people said they replace their soft top after 6 months cuz of wear and holes, some said they have had it for couple years and it's still fine.
And i don't want to pay for a soft top like every 6 months, and a soft top from honda is going for like $1800 to replace ? im a college student btw so my budget is kinda low =].

anyways i just want to know more info about the soft top before i consider buying the car

thx in advance

Every 6 months is pretty excessive. I'd say average is more like 3-5yrs. There are outliers though...some have worn really quickly and I know one car that still has it's original MY00 top.

my 00 if it wasn't for the slashes from two attempted seat thefts would have went on till about mid last year when the dreaded side tears started happening.

So 9 years isn't bad to me

There are a couple of preventative steps you can take to decrease the friction, pinching, and rips if the top is in decent condition.

I've never heard this.

My original top is still in great condition after 5 years and 100k+ miles. I treat my top with 303 fairly regularly.
