I ALWAYS do that when I'm driving my girl's car. I look for the start button when I first get in too.

Haha, good topic!

Left hand volume adjustments
clutch / foot-brake fiasco
wanting to downshift when coming to a stop
taking corners way too fast for the car (except the Cooper S - it comes close )
turning off the engine in neutral and wondering why the key wouldn't come out!

When coming up to a red light try to push a clutch with my left foot and downshift but then I realize I'm driving an automatic.

Mine are opposite. I often reach for the nonexistent homelink button in the S to open my garage. I once had a Altima rental for 2 weeks that had a push button start/stop keyless ignotion. When I got back in the S, I kept reaching for the start button to turn the car off. I don't know if it would have ground the starter if I had pushed it, but it scared the crap out of me.

Sticking the key in the ignition and turning it all the way to on but then letting go rather than holding it until the engine starts. The engine cranks over briefly and then stops.

Yesterdayit was raining. I was making a U-turn around a median strip and hung the tail out on my wife's Grand Marquis.

Wonder why the Traction Control didn't kick in???
