I've seen 0-60 figures from 5.4-6.0 on the S2000. CR might be a tad faster due to the lighter curb weight and better tires?

The S2000 is sort of in a different class...it's a FMR car that's lightweight and has had many years to be tweaked and improved upon. Sure it's cool to see it compete with that sort of company, but honestly it was built to go up against the Miata, MR Spyder, Z4, Boxster, etc.
One of it's competition cars was a Z3(you know, that little roadster that was in one of the 90's bond films')...The Z4 was released in '03(I believe, not sure) as the answer to the S2000...Among other cars.

+1!

Paper racing never really affects me.

The feel of an S2000 though? I honestly don't care that some cars are faster when they don't feel anywhere as awesome as an S2000 does.

That was a Z8, not Z3.

These stats can be found in every R&T magazine towards the back if you are into that sort of thing. They always have the stats for the latest version of the car tested. S2000 CR brakes look pretty darn good to me according to these figures.

Correct...It was a Z8...in the film you're thinking about. But the Bond film before it featured the Z3 if I remember correctly(Same film that also featured a joystick controlled 5 or 7 series BMW sedan as well).

That's more a function of curb weight (lowest of the group). Brakes on the CR (same as the base model) are definitely a weak point.

I don't understand why people insist on comparing the S to non-roadsters. If all you care about is performance, then a convertable is the wrong choice. It will be either heavier, less stiff, or more expensive than it's hardtop competition.

BTW: "Goldeneye" had the Z3. "The World Is Not Enough" had the Z8. Thank god that there are dedicated geeks that will compile all this info on wikipedia!

Wikipedia page with all of the Bond cars.

They actually had someone who knew how to launch an S2000 with CDV properly.
