Hi,
I have 800 miles on my 2001, and have not had a single problem. I went over the magic 600 mile mark yesterday and finally got to VTEC-Land. This car is a lot of fun under 5500 RPMs, but after 6,000 RPM, it is a wild animal.
FYI - I sold my 93 LT1 Vette to get this car and have not regretted it for one single moment. Hands down, this is the best car for the $$$ spent.
Good Luck.

I've had my '01 for nearly 5000 miles now, and I HAVE had the 1-2 shift grind on me, BUT I think it really is due to driver error (even though I really do think that I'm the best driver around hehe) -- I'm starting to realize it's because you're taking it out of 1st gear before the clutch is 100% to the floor -- it doesn't matter that the clutch is 100% on the floor when you move into 2nd (when the grind occurs), it's when you take it out of gear without the clutch *all* the way down. Do that, and you'll be fine. (I'm not 100% sure this is how it works, but it sure makes sense when I think about the grinds that I've had so far)
Other than that, ZERO problems so far, in true Honda fashion.

The MY2001 fixed all the maladies of the introductory year. There have been a few very isolated cases of the #4 cylinder going bad on the MY2001, which is a MY2001 problem only. There is no TSB on this issue and Honda says it is related to low oil (some here say they had adequate oil...but that's Honda's thought on the root cause). Owners of these cars are not out a penny...Honda has covered all on Warranty.

My MY2001 has 3,335 mi and not a single problem. 1-2 grind one time and I agree with SteveUCI, clutch must be down all the way before you go into 2nd. To date, the S2000 has been one of the best all-around purchases I've ever made. Go get one and join the fun!
