How about sitting in traffic on the 405 for 2 hrs, moving at 10 mph. Stick suddenly doesn't become so much fun anymore, now does it?

May I suggest one of these for your driving pleasure?

I hear the 350Z is available in a poseur version too.

If you're worried about being stuck on 405 all evening than the S isnt for you. Most S owners that are faced with that dilema know what back roads take them home, and even if the back roads are a further distance to travel, driving in the S makes them go by much faster.

OH PLEASE! NO AUTOMATIC for the S! Not even an SMG or whatever semi-auto 'crap' other cars are having these days. I don't care if it shifts just as fast or faster than a manual, it's not the same. The huge part of the S is its awesome shifter. Shifting makes it soo soo much more fun, and I never get tired of it, even in traffic jams. If that becomes a problem, then an S is not for you. Get something else, anything else. Please, no auto in an S2K!

I totally agree for everyday driving in wall-to-wall traffic that an automatic is the best choice. But, with the S2000 you can't have your cake and eat it too. This car is a purpose built sport car that begs to be taken to the track. You won't find many automatics there. May I suggest a 350Z. They are a great car for what you want and nothing to be ashamed of. A 350Z just took first place in GT2 at the SCCA runoffs. But, as you've found out, S2000 owner's don't want anyone screwing with their niche car and making it so civilized that it destroys what it stands for.
