Only problem I've had with my 03, which has 15k on it, is the top latches rattling. My dealer is going to replace both for me under warranty.

I'm not claiming it's a full blown official problem but the issue still exists.

I doubt that everyone of the cases I've read about has been as simple as not being fully in gear.

Possible there may be a problem, possible there may not be, I just think we're being to rash to presume there is an official problem yet.

The ones that happen while driving(me two happened during intial acceleration) need further investigation. There might be a problem but there might not also. When the car pops out of gear, it's definately not good for the tranmission. This may cause further transmission problems down the road. However if the intial cause was driver error I am reluctant to say it's a defect. The intial poping out due to not fully engaging 1st may be causeing addition wear that will 'cause the problem to increase in serverity. I think it's hard to say now(and we don't get to see the damaged tranny's either )

I can promise you that Honda knew about any problems (if there is any) long before the consumers found out about them. Of course, that doesn't mean they'll admit to it and fix the "defective" ones.
