Default Is there any defects on 03' model?

I own a 03 and wanted to know if there were any defects on the car like the earlier years and now the tranny problem in 04.

The MY03 has been refined over the MY00. I am sure that Honda will refine the AP2 as well.

what tranny problem...there's no tranny problem in MY04 that wasn't there in MY00-03...there has been some debate that the carbon synchros *may* have improved things...

If you read in the forums you will see some members have had tranny problems in 04 with as little as 3800 miles on the ODO. Honda has no knowledge on the problem, but it is there. Denied warranty claims is one problem the members face.

sorry but it's not....there is no evidence of anything...barring a TSB of some sort you really can't say anything. One case of an event is completly meanless. Does not mean there is any sort of defect.

You can see the TSBs for the '03 model here:

http://www.alldata.com/TSB/24/032446AQ.html

But 'tis true, there are no known transmission "issues" for '04 that didn't exist in the previous model years. If you're referring to the infamous 1-->2 "grind" or "crunch", then the general consensus I've seen is that this has actually improved a bit in '04.

The 04-05's may not have an official TSB to declare it a problem but I've read on this forum alone cases in the double digits of people having their tranny throw the gear back in to neutral in the middle of driving.

From what I recall reading it seems to be a 1st and/or 2nd gear problem only.

Honestly, I really don't buy it. It has happened to me twice while accelerating from a stop light. In both cases it was 100% driver error. I got alittle sloppy with shifting into 1st and didn't make sure that the gear was fully engaged. If you get sloppy then yes it can happen. But I'm not convinced that this is a problem if you are precise with your shifting.
