Default Test pipe and gas mileage

Ok, no babble, just fact (for me).

Pre-test pipe - avg 23mpg stop and go, city only driving.

Current set up (same expcept for Berk TP with no CEL) - instantly, I dropped from averaging 23 mpg to 19mpg, if I'm lucky!

My driving habits have not changed AT ALL. I would go so far as to say that I have been driving more conservative since the TP install.

Frankly, I am slightly pissed off. I did feel a bit more power, but damn, that money spent on gas adds up!

Has anyone had a similar experience post test pipe install? I probably would never have bought the pipe if I knew I would sacrifice 4-5 mpg!

You're illegally polluting the environment, so consider the extra consumption an anti-environmentalism tax.

...and then Chris, you can go shove a test pipe up every cow's ass and say "that's an anti-environmentalism tax, bitch".

Go hug trees on your own time.

As for a change in gas milage, its not because of the testpipe...It could be a million different things but its hardly that. A testpipe will make the car run a tad leaner. Leaner = more gas milage if anything.

I have a dyno proving 14hp, but I'm afraid once I post it all the tree huggers are going to come out screaming BS / save the world nonsense / etc.

You are correct ~15hp is about the gain of a tp coupled with a freeflowing aftermarket exhaust

haven't put my car on a dyno after install....but i did notice a reasonable power diffrence...I'm guessing if it was about 2-3 H.P. i wouldn't have noticed....also...I'm boosted....

No decrease in gas mileage here. Could it be bad gas? We recently had the ethenol crap in gas which robs performace + MPG's.
