Default tein coilover question

i am trying to decide between the tein cs or the tein ra. i would like to do some track time but probably not too much. should i get the cs because the ra's would be too much coilover for what i will be using it for? your help and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

no experience with CS's, but I have RA's and previously had RA's on my street S2000......... i would look for some used RA's if i were you. I paid $1100 for mine and they were in near new condition.

The CS from what I gather is a nice street setup, some people have said that softer spring rates compared to the RA caused rubbing at certain times do to how much they lowered the car in relation to the offset of the wheels they had. The RA has 559 spring rates at all 4 corners which may cause the car to be a little more neutral since the stock setup has lower spring rates front than rear. And yes, the FLEX kit is now i development and will have 559 front and 671 rear spring rates, which until someone drives on it we will have to wait to see how people like it. I personally am beating my head against the wall on a daily basis trying to decide which coilover set to get for my car when it comes out of storage this spring, my own personally opinion today is that I may end up wanting a little more than the CS, but who knows, that may change tomorrow.

mooboydc5-you have the FLEX kit already!?! I was told it would not be finalized and ready for market until March? Please detail how you were able to get your hands on one, and please provide your feedback on the setup.

Hey Wongawa,

I have the Tein CS with 17" volk ce28n's. The ride is very comfortable and ideally meant for a daily driver. Even with the +50 offset on my front rims i got some rubbing issues when i hit large bumps or turned too sharp on canyon runs. My car was lowered to a 1-finger gap all around and it only had rubbing in the front, now it is at about 1.5-2 finger gap all around and i have not had any rubbing issues at all.

If you are going to track your car once in a while with aftermarket rims, i remember you had 18" ce28n's, it would be more wise to go with the Tein RA's due to the stiffer spring rates and they are meant for street/track use. I would only use my Tein CS on the track if i barely lowered the car or had stock wheels so there would be no rubbing.

If you want to know any other things about the Tein Cs just PM me.

I would think that with the 559 front and 671 rear spring rates these would behave like the RA coilover set BUT be even slightly stiffer in the rear than the RA which is 559 at all 4 corners. I do however not know if there are any differences in the way the shock assemblies perform. Oh one more thing that I noticed is that the 559 rate spring for the RA and RS coilover sets have the same part number, the FLEX kit 559 front springs have a different part number, so I wonder what the difference in the springs then is?
