This thread makes me sad. GA and NC both require you to pay property tax on your cars. Damn.

Did you also pay sales tax on the purchase? In NY, we pay 8% sales tax, but no yearly property tax. I had to pay $2400 in tax when I bought my car.

I paid mine about three months ago. You're supposed to pay (1st time registration) license, state fees, and 8% tax on the cost of the USED vehicle.
So of course telling them the car cost less than it actually did is the norm. So I payed 560 dollars on the car including fees. I think the registration next September will be around a hundred bucks.
