Slight O-T:

How long is the Honda oil filter good for? Or other other filters?

They should be changed at every 6k miles or every oil change, whichever comes first, and whatever oil you use. Dirt is dirt.

I wouldn't consider Mobil 1 to be an upper tier synthetic.

Mobil 1 is actually only about 80% PAO based and not 100%.

The latest UOA's have been showing that it IS actually an upper tier synthetic and it has also been showing better numbers than AMSOIL in certain engines. According to most of the information I have accumulated on the bobistheoilguy.com forums Mobil 1 has actually been shown to work quite well with the F20C. Go to that site and do a search for Honda and/or S2000 and you will find a thread from a board member there that had very good results with Mobil 1 and the F20C. Many of the members there believe that the major oil companies are keeping a tight eye on the conversation taking place on that forum and that some of them have reformulated their oil/blend as of late...specifically Mobil 1. Also, Mobil 1 has just recently announced that they will be producing a Mobil 1 R "racing oil." I guess we will have to wait and see what that is all about.

Personally I am trying to find some of the new German Castrol synthetic 0W-30. There seems to be nothing but good reports coming from those that have used it but I can't seem to find it anywhere locally.

wow, lots of great analysis!
so, it sounds like a low mileage car can go 6 mos on synthetic?
not sure that there is agreement here, but it seems like most are either saying that or are sorta saying that!!?

all you guys doing this fancy oil talk crack me up

because you throw in your two cents, which is just enough to be dangerous, and in the end never ever really get your arms around anything which makes y'all look like geeks sisyphus style.

unless your s2000 props itself on its two rear wheels and whispers in your ear, "this oil ain't good enough," just go with what's recommended per the owner's manual and enjoy the drive.

I switch out every 3,750 miles
