Synthetic Back to Regular

Synthetic Back to Regular
I was told that once the car's been using synthetic oil, you shouldn't change it back to regular oil such as those dealership uses. Is this true? If so, why?
The previous owner used Mobil One Synthetic, it is what I use now but just curious if I could bring it back to the dealership for an oil/regular services if I decide to in the future.

u can change it back and forth all you want it doesnt matter.. its just once u go synthetic it leaves additives in the cylinder walls.. which stay to help lube.. and once u go back to regular.. it pulls the additives back out of the walls.. and it gets burnt and smokes out ur tail pipe.. onecs its all burnt out.. you are fine.. just stay with one or the other.. easier to go syntetic but every time u go back to regular it sometimes causes smoke out ur tail pipe because of what i jsut said..

i heard its not good to switch back to regular if you are already using synthetic. synthetic oil causes seals to swell up, and if you switch back to regular, i hear you will have very bad oil leaks. not sure if its true, but id say stick to synthetic

Myth #4
You can't switch from synthetic oil to conventional oil or vice versa.
You need to start with a synthetic blend for a few oil changes before moving to full synthetic oil.
Once you start using synthetic motor oil you cannot go back to conventional oil.
Synthetic and conventional engine oils can't be mixed, or else they react and cause engine problems.
Fact
As long as the synthetic motor oil product and conventional motor oil product meet the viscosity and performance requirements outlined in the vehicle

I've heard (read) that the biggest advantage of synthetics is the ability to maintain a lubricated surface to journals and bearings on a cold start be it weather related or because of short-term or extended storage.
Conventional oil will drip away from critical parts when the parts are not in use. Synthetics may also drip away but at the same time leave behind a coating that is critically important over a vehicles lifetime.
This seems reasonable and makes sence and may be the best reason why a synthetic oil should be seriously considered.
For cars that are daily drivers and in constant use, the use of synthetics my be of less importance and have little or no advantage.

I have heard the thing about seals too. On my last car (99 Civic si) they said from using regular oil and then switching to synthetic after too many miles I caused my valve seals to become weak and crack (B16 motor). After that I was over synthetic. And I tore done the engine and built an LS Vtec
I use Regular Honda oil, and change it every 2000 miles. I have always used regular oil and done oil changes early and never had any problems
The few times I have used Synthetics, I really did not notice a difference except for the dipstick was harder to read and I paid a lot more for it.
I dont like letting lots of time go by without changing fluids. I think most places recommend 3000 miles or 3 months. Synthetics say they would last longer, I would be weary about waiting 5-6 months or so to do an oil change
