Swapping S2000 for 911
Over the last year I have had another little boy and my insurance has tripled to over $6400( thanks to being hit by a trucks, wife in fender bender and speeding ticket). As a result I have had to trade in my 2003 S2000 and my Nissan Pathfinder(a deathtrap imho). The only car I could think of that would not be such a let down was the Porsche 911. I can carry my kids around in it and I wont have to pay for insurance on 2 cars. My Insurance went down to $3500. I figure if I get bored I will get a motorcycle for thrills.
I have to say that I think the S2000 is in many ways a better car the the 911 and I will be sad to make the trade. Unfortunately I cannot justify leaving the S2000 in the garage.
It is true the 911 is faster then the s2000 but the honda feels faster and sharper. I will truly miss it. I think I can hearing the wailing engine in my head as I speak
In any case thanks for all the help you have given me and , who knows, maybe I will buy another s2000 in years to come.
take care guys

The s2000 costs you more to insure than the 911, or do you just need something with a semblance of a back seat? What about an M3? might do the trick and still offer a back seat for a bit less cost than a 911.

Btw way I only got 24k for my 2003 S2000 with 6k miles on the clock. I accepted because in New york Sales tax is 7% and I would have had to get at least $26,500 for the car to make it make sense to sell it privately.

cshama,
What year is your 911? Is it brand new? I must admit a bit of envy...I love 911's and would definitely take one over a S2000. A good friend has a '91 Carrera and it's a total blast. I've never had the privilege of driving a newer one but can only imagine the fun!

The porsche is a 2000 year with 15000 miles on the clock and 18 inch wheels.
The insurance on the S2000 and the 911 is about the same but with the 911 I can get rid of the pathfinder as well.
The 911 is nice but to me the S2000 is way more fun.

Since the buyer pay the sales tax in NY to the DMV when he/she registers the car what does that have to do with your selling price to a private party? You have no responsibility to pay that tax on the sale.

i wonder why it would be less in ny?
