Are you upgrading the differential?
I'm keeping my AP1 differential for now, but I have an AP2 pumpkin. Just need to buy the 4.44

What about the other way around? Ap1 transmission in an ap2?
Actually, with the lower 8k redline, it would be a good mod. There was a Best Motoring where that was discussed as potentially making the ap2 quicker on the track...look around timestamp 5:50.

It might make the ap2 quicker in the quarter since it would not have to shift to 5th right at the timers.

For a turbo ap2, it would be highly recommended so the car could stay in boost longer.

Kinda weird...the ap2 tranny is probably preferable on the ap1 and vis versa.

I have this mod and it's a nice upgrade, especially for the price you're getting it for installed. It's very worth it. Are you considering an upgrade to your clutch and flywheel? I would think it would be a good time to do so if you're planning to.

I'd love to be able to do the swap myself. I'd actually like to try out the AP2 tranny with my 4.77's but I'm sure I'd get the "YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR MIND!!!" comments

I drive mostly city. I like being able to accelerate between lights and I like being able to have the power on tap without having the engine completely screaming through the downtown core with everyone looking at me. So is the S the right car for me? Some might say no, but I still say yes

Thanks for your input, guys! Looks like I'll be getting it swapped this weekend.
Would you like to sell any amps to offset the cost

All AP2 transmissions are the same, yes? Anything 04-on will work?

What does the "primary gear reduction" mean? It's listed on both of the charts that compare the ap1/ap2 tranny

I'd really like the idea of longer 5 & 6 gear. I wonder how this would work with 4.57 on mine? I like my set up, except I don't really feel comfortable doing highway cruise at such high rpm.

If you have the AP2 rear diff and drive shaft then install that too. You will not have to change the rear transmission flange if you use all AP2 components. The bolts used to hold the drive shaft to the trans and rear are 8 mm AP1 and 10 mm AP2. If you mix and match you will need to change the flange out.

I have had the setup in my car for a few years and it is well worth the money, the fuel economy is enough reason for the swap.
