I asked my local speed shop, who is a authorized Comptech dealer, how much and how long it would take to install the supercharger. They said that it would take about 20 hours and around 700 dollars. I thought that 700 dollars wasn't too bad but 20 hours??? I heard someone on the board said they had it installed in 5 hours and could do it again in an even shorter time. How long should it take and how much?

Damn, if their shop rate is only $35/hr, tell me who they are :-)

But seriously, talk to SCS2k, he's got _the_ Comptech supercharger guy who does his installs, he'll be able to tell you everything you need to know.

It's hard for me to sum up the time it took me to install my Comptech kit because it was done after work over MANY days... If I had to do it in one day or one weekend, I could. For a shop that has never done the install, 20 hours sounds MUCH more reasonable than 5 hours. Changing the fuel pump alone should take an expert ~30 - 45 minutes...

The instructions are great but there are a few twists in the install that takes some time. Do you want your tech rushing as fast as humanly possible to install your charger?

I helped (read: got in the way of) the guy who installed mine. We started at about 11 am and finished at about 9pm. Having now done one I imagine he could do it in roughly half that time. It does NOT take 20hrs unless of course it is their first one and the longer time is due to inexperience with the kit.
