I sold the Lotus already as it was getting zero use as the atom is a much more fun car. Why have 2 ridiculous vehicles?

The idea behind the s2k or Miata is to have a car I can use rain or shine and leave outside the garage without feeling bad.

I actually like the image of the miata - it is very unpretentious.

Personally I have driven the NC (06+ Miata), and went and bought a left over Mazdaspeed Turbo Miata. I also had 2 NA (1991 and a 1994 miata) prior.

I personally hate the NC. If there is a Mazdaspeed NC, then I might get one, till then, the MSM NB will have to do for me.

By the way, if you don't like questions, don't get a Velocity Red Miata like me. It has the shimmering paint, and I get stopped in gas stations EVERYWHERE even in Los Angeles, where the poor commoners are driving 911s. Everybody wants to know who custom painted the car. It is OEM.

My VR MSM gets more question than my 07 Rio Yellow S2k. Go figure.

As for handling it follows the same order. The cars have the same ethos but are in a different league.

Where the s2k wins is ease of use on a daily basis. In some ways the Lotus and the Atom are way more fun but being blasted by the wind and constantly hassled by interested people gets old quicker then you might think. With the Lotus you literally have to crawl into it and if you so much as touch any kind of obstacle you will screw up your front clam. Unless your life is your car either one can get on your nerves. Also I remember some great times with the s2000- cruising along with the roof down, stereo blasting, looking at the stars.


In addition, safety wise, driving around in either car is a little scary.

I would not sell the atom to buy the s2k but having an s2k in addition to the atom makes sense to me. A miata is also very appealing to me for the same reasons.

I don't know if I could agree with you in saying that the Lotus is much faster than the S2K. I think the S2K can hang nicely with the Lotus. I've seen Lotus' at the 1/4 track, and they do like low 14's.
