Well the Lotus is a lot faster then the s2k and the atom makes the Lotus seem very slow. So the s2k gets beaten totally in terms of speed.
The Rover 1.6?
The Toyota 1.8?
Is it tuned?
The Opel Speedster is on the same platform and should have the same perf specs (2.2 147HP, 2.0T 200HP). Never found the Speedster (not even the Turbo) THAT fast compared to the S...

I had the 190hp toyota- not a bad engine but not as good as the s2000 engine
Actually you can get the k20 engine in the atom although I have a 300hp ecotec.
I would love to hear from someone who had a miata and an S2k and get their opinions.

how'd you go from a 911 to an rx-8 lol
Top three cars on my list to own in the near future are
M3
Exige
911
Not in any particular order, but I will probably be able to afford the M3 before any of the others. The Exige just looks so damn sexy and handles like a beast. Now it comes supercharged as well

Hey there, I see that there is some interest in comparing the MX-5 to the S2000. So I will give it a go. I traded an '03 MX-5 LS for an '07 AP2 S2000 about 3 months ago.
Let me start by saying that the Miata was a great car, it never let me down, and it was a gas to drive. The most noticeable difference other than critiques from my friends for driving a gay car, is the feeling that the S will kill you if push it, where as the Miata you can manhandle through just about anything. The Miata is a great balance between power and handling, but it really cant compete with the S as far as handling and power are concerned, that and the girls seem to far prefer my new car. Ah, one place where the Miata was significantly better, the stereo, I had the stock Bose stereo and it was fantastic, the S stereo is really pretty terrible, so if you want a tune other that a perfect sounding exhaust, the S really falls short.
All in all, they are both great cars, the S is just more aggressive and more about driving closer to the edge.
Any thing I missed?

Where the s2k wins is ease of use on a daily basis. In some ways the Lotus and the Atom are way more fun but being blasted by the wind and constantly hassled by interested people gets old quicker then you might think.
Most of us know we're going to get some questions when we take a sports car out in public. However sometimes I don't have the time to talk or I'm concentrating on something else or just grumpy and don't want to talk.
So I guess I probably come off as an asshole at times because I don't want to have a five minute conversation about my car with a complete stranger.
If you're driving something more exotic than an S2000 I'm sure it attracts that much more attention and is consequently a lot more annoying!

Option 3: keep the lotus and the atom and buy a used AP1
Look up in the miato forums, one of the guys did a comparison post between his S and MX5. He like the S more.

The idea behind the s2k or Miata is to have a car I can use rain or shine and leave outside the garage without feeling bad.
I actually like the image of the miata - it is very unpretentious.

I had a 2004 S2k that I loved, however, I have always lusted after 911's and finally got the wife to break down. Purchased a 2003 C2 with minimal options and liked the car enough to buy it until I noticed how much I missed my S2k. The Porsche was great, but why was I spending so much $$$ for a second car? After flirting with buying another S2k, I finally decided to get a 2007 MX-5 instead.
It's a blast to drive and after rebates and such was dirt cheap to purchase. I can say that it has many of the qualities of the S2k, only knocked down a couple of notches. Do I still love the S2k? Hell, yeah. It's a great car and I don't put it past myself to get another one someday. However, the Miata gives me much of the same pleasure without breaking the bank.
I must say that I miss the sound of the flat-6 in the 911. A pure mechanical symphony. In hindsight, I probably would have been happier with a Boxster than he 911.
