Its not normal guys, did you guys read my posts? You can't tell me a person that has had an s2000 or thats been here almost 9 years doesnt know what the airbox on an s2000 sounds like. I'v experienced this, so before you say its normal do some research and read the posts! I had personal experience and know how it sounds in real life. Its VERY loud, and it gets louder when you open the airbox lid b/c the air is pumping into the intake arm and the noise is coming from the filter, so of course it will get louder when you take the lid off. Plus I thought the same thing when my car did this, but it was wierd when I turned the car off completely and the intake was still WAY loud. I opened the hood and took off the lid, it was coming from the filter area. So how can it be the intake if the car is off? For the OP, I understand how it is. Try that little trick I told you earlier about taking off that hose, that will prove that its the airpump if that noise goes away. Here pretty soon expect a CEL if the pump is acting up like that. It sucks but air pumps arent to expensive on here. I hope you get it all solved man. Good luck!

I have this exact noise too, it happens randomly but when it does I can hear it all the way from my cabin with the windows closed. My air filter does have alot of dust in it, I hope it goes away after I clean it. Bump for an answer

I posted an answer...? you can also try what I said above. When the car is making that noise pull the airpump hose off and move it away and see if the noise goes away from the airbox.

^^ That's when I noticed it. I was inside the car, windows up, and I noticed the humming. :-/ I think we're holding out for another answer because we don't want to buy a new air pump hahaha.

i dont even know what the air pump does but i know people take it out and replace it with this "delete" kit.

worth a look i guess if we dont "need" it and 100 buck is not bad

Dang everyone still brings that delete kit up. It was a failure on our cars, they refunded everyones money for it. There is no way around the airpump CEL unless you replace the airpump, or get an EMS. Go the last page of the link he just posted and look at one of the last replies by the OP. He explains that it didnt work with our s2000's.

So my 00 S2000 is making this exact same noise, started yesterday...

How hard is it to change the air pump? Can it be done at home?

Where should I buy this from?
