what do strakes do? fancy mudguards?

Probably more than anything, they enhance the aerodynamic looks of the S (IMO). Functionally speaking, they help the airflow at high speeds so the air doesn't hit a drag spot at the rear wheels.

I think they look okay, but doubt they do much. I like mine, but will be shopping for maybe the Airwalkers. I do like them though, but kind of want a different look.
