Default Straight pipes

Any performance gains? Cops hassle you? If you were to remove the 2 mufflers and swap straight pipes would it be as loud as a single exhaust?

Ok, how about someone with experience with straight pipes replying? I know some people are running with them here after doing a search, but there's no comments on performance gains.

The reason for straight pipes is I'd like to keep the dual exhaust look, but get the extra power and also losing some weight with the removal of the stock mufflers. Just curious if they'll be louder than running a single and if the performance will be comparable.

i thought you wanted a single.... sorry. a test pipe will help with emissions and will gain some power. exhaust on the S2000 is well designed and wont really net you much HP gains, only weight. if you want sound and less weight order the test pipe and get to euro mufflers ("fart cans") and have a local exhaust shop cut the old ones off and weld the new ones on.

by help with emissions i mean over no cat at all.

Just get an invidia then. Its just as loud as striaght pipes, actually sounds great, and retains the dual look

A mechanic might be able to correct me if I'm wrong. I think there has to be some restriction(as in muffler) to keep the valves properly seated.
Legally I don't think you'd last long without acquiring a ticket or two and then you would be forced to reinstall a muffler.
