Default Story about bad gas!

Luckily this hasn't turned into an S2K specific problem yet...but I thought I would share my story.

A few blocks down the street from me is a new "National" chain gas station. Due to the proximity of its' location, I started to buy gas for the S2K and my lawn tractor there. Last weekend, my lawn tractor started to run erraticaly. Since it was under warranty, I took it back to the shop where I purchased it. They proceeded to check the carb, fuel filter and gas tank. To my surprise...all three items contained tiny bits of rust that clogged the filter, and carb. It is very surprising considering I use a plastic tank for fill up and the tank on the tractor is also plastic. There is only one place the tiny bits of rust could come from.

After seeing what the tractor shop found...I am starting to worry that my S2K will succumb to the same fate. What kind of crap is floating in my cars fuel system??? Hopefully Honda has a better filter on the S2K than I had on my tractor. If not...I can't imagine the damage this will due to my car.

Has anyone out in S2KI land had any type of fuel system problem? Clogged filter, injectors, etc...??? Considering the size of the particles...I highly doubt any type of fuel cleaner would correct this situation.

Bottom Line...Be very careful where you buy your gas!!!

no problems here.... i say if you can prove for a fact that those particles came from that gas station.. you should sue the hell out of them...

i would drain your tank asap and not drive it untill i have put new fuel in. also bring this up with the new garage down the road and tell them something is not right with their fuel and, if need be take evidence from your mover with you

The correct question would be: "where do I stick the nozzle?"

Several years ago all gas station had to dig up their metal tanks and replace them
with other types, for the simple fact after a certain period of time the metal tanks
started rusting in the ground and gas was leaching out into the soil. So i dont think
you have gotten it from the tank where you purchased your gas. Most of the tankers that deliver fuel to stations are of stainless steel or Aluminum. This is not to say that the rust was not present while loading the tankers. But this is why i only
use Chevron or Shell......better quality control

I had a simaliar story with my dads truck. He had about a quarter tank of gas, the truck started running really rough. Took the truck to the dealer the next day. Ended up telling us there was bad gas in the tank, told us to run the remaining gas out of the tank, change the fuel filter and refill. When I pulled the filter there was alot of dirt and sediment in it. The filter only had 9000 miles on it. Dealer recommends replace every 15000 miles. Another reason not to fill up just after a tanker has been there.

Anyways, I recommend you replace your filter and try to stay away from your new gas station.
