They may opt for aftermarket on the top or charge a betterment if your top is worn. In most states they are allowed to look for used seats also. If they find some in similar condition to yours or better they can price the used seats. If you have a lienholder they have a duty to protect the lienholder. In that case they will need to make sure the vehicle is repaired and it gets sticky trying to opt for cheaper items and spend elsewhere.
I guess I have good insurance then, they didn't even think about going used on everything. I went through a break in in my lude a few years ago so I knew what to have ready and what questions to ask. I guess being informed and doing research on replacement and labor rates is the best course of action. Claims adjusters are more willing to work with you when you have your facts straight and things priced out.

You're not obligated to have OEM parts placed back in -- your insurance is obligated to pay what that would cost, though.
No,they are not. They are required by the T&C of the policy and only the T&C. OEM replacement parts are NOT a right. Normally "Like condition" is the terms they use. Remember, the INS co is not your friend, they are not doing you a favor. They are in business to make money for themselves and their share holders. They will and do anything that will lessen the amount they pay out on every policy. That means you get as little as they can gte away with.

Why do you think they make you list the mods on your car? So they can cover the mods at no additional cost? NO!. So they can charge you more for the policy? Yes.

Its gonna depend on your insurance company and the adjuster. But if they won't work with you, maybe the shop where the repairs are to be done will.

Say that you are really busy right now, and dont have time to fix the car at the moment. So instead you want the check to fix on a later date. They can't force you to fix the car now!

This should get you the check, there shouldn't be a reason for the to refuse you since you have full coverage.

If you don't own the car outright, you'll probably need the bank to cosign that check in order to cash it. They might give you the check, but it won't do you any good.

^--- these people talking about a bank lien on the car are absolutely correct. my seats were stolen and my top was slashed, through Progressive my agent came out to my house to size up the damages. The estimate for the seats + the top came out to be 6900$, they credited the seats for 3000$, the top for 2000 or so, and the rest was labor. I was given a hassle free check that was cashed the same day.

My car was just vandalized couple nights ago.

Seats are gone and my top's ripped

I have esurance and the adjuster told me to have the shop they deal with to do the estimate.

Anyone deal with esurance before?

Thanks in advance

Just last week my top was slashed and seats were stolen. I am still dealing with my insurance, and at first they wanted to see that all the work was done and then pay the shop directly. But I am trying to have them issue me a check after getting an estimate and they are thinking about it. Was hoping they would just cut the check without thinking, but they are leaning toward having the work done first and just paying for it. We'll see....

That same thing happened to me in May and the insurance company delt directly with the body shop that the car was located at. They paid them for the job, and I paid the deductable to the shop so you couldnt try to screw the insurance company. Hey I was just happy to get my car back. Now I have a great alarm with a remote that I keep in the house, and of course seat locks for the seats. Never again! Hopefully.

make sure you get seat locks and a good alarm or it will happen again, and again, and again. Your insurance might dump you.
