STOLEN AP1 Berlina Black on Full Red in Chicago

It's a real shame that the majority of the comments have been "you should've known better". Pretty pathetic when you can't even keep your own property in front of your own house nowadays for fear of it being stolen. I guess I should consider myself fortunate that I live in rural CT where the only thing people would be looking to steal would be farm animals and/or a tractor.
This car is unfortunately in a million pieces by now.

Right, two easiest ways to do it I guess. If it is the latter then they need to see your car one day and then return with the right ecu/key perhaps the next day, unless they are close by with lots of these things hanging around. Two trucks and spot and remove the vehicle within 2 minutes.

Man this totally sucks. I'm in CA so probably wont do any good for me to do any searching but i'll still keep my eyes open. I do feel grateful that i can park my racecar in a garage. And that i also live in a very good area, but i hate seeing this happen to other people. Especially when you literally just got it!

In my hometown I could leave the car unlocked in my driveway and never worry about it being stolen or touched in any way, if I drive two hours east I would be afraid to leave it parked on any street for any length of time.

Thanks for all of the responses. Yes, I do have insurance and am covered, but this still does suck. I probably won't see any money for the Comptech exhaust or AEM intake that were on the car, or the taxes and plates/registration that I had to pay with the car last week.
I think they cut the top, swap their matching ECU/immobilizer in and put their key in and drive away. Lowlifes. If I ever buy an S2000 again I will never put it on the street. I wasn't even planning on it with this car, but I didn't have an immediate garage available until another week or so.

The idea of having your priced possession stolen is absolutely horrible. Sorry man.

I wasn't trying to make the poor guy feel worse...my point is that at least it was insured and, less the deductible, hopefully he will get his money back and, perhaps, find an even better S2000. Before I escaped to the suburbs, I used to live in the city of Chicago (Lakeview area) and had to park my daily drivers on the street. I'm not the least bit surprised that his car was stolen. I just wish him the best in finding another car and, hopefully, a secure place where he can park it.
