Stock tires revisited...
#1
I've search on this and became more confused.
Can someone PLEASE clarify for me the following questions:
1) Can you replace the rear stock tires with 265/45/16?
2) Can you replace the rear stock tires with 255/50/16?
3) Can you replace the rear stock tires with 245/45/16?
4) What is the largest tire size that you can replace the
front tires.
5) What is the preferred tire for rain/wet conditions?
I live in the Northwest where it rains 360 days out
of the year.

Mark - The simple answer to 5) is that you need to balance your desire for dry grip with wet grip. I don't think going wider is wise considering your geographic location. All else being equal, a wider tire is going to hydroplane sooner than a narrower tire. Rubber compounds and tread designs that offer exceptional dry grip, such as those in the OEM SO2s, often do not perform well when it is wet, especially when it is cold. In my opinion, I would opt for Bridgestone SO2 PPs (or new SO3 PPs) in stock sizes for their improved wet grip in exchange for dry grip, recognizing that they will oversteer more at the limit when conditions are dry. This will allow you to drive the car with more confidence for your 360 wet days per year! When I wear out my 2nd set of OEM tires, I will move to the SO2 PPs for everyday use and throw some high grip tires like the Hoosiers or Kumhos on a second wheelset for autocross or just having a little fun. Since Florida experiences summer monsoons, the PPs will be very helpful during that time of year - I'll just need to deal with the additional oversteer in the winter dry season. HTH

I've read some other threads on this subject but not convinced...
1) Can you replace the rear stock tires with 265/45/16?
2) Can you replace the rear stock tires with 255/50/16?
Its a larger diameter for both tires compared to the stock but will it work? Can the LSD handle it?

Other threads have suggested the Michelin Pilot Sports with a rear size of 245/45/16 are good rain and dry tires. I don't know if this size will change the speedometer and odometer accuracy. Does anyone? I also don't know what size should use on front.
