Problems, probably not. Performance loss, it's debatable, some people say yes, others say no you ahve gains. Either way you're looking at a 1-2HP +/-.
If you want the sound, get a CAI.

i think that if u take the top of and drive the car aggresively for a few minutes , the intake will suck the hot air around it from the engine , so that loses power.....
no need to worry if u were not driveing aggresivly

A CAI is well worth the investment IMHO. If hydrolock is a concern, look at PRM's jetstream instake. I have it, I love it.

i recently took my top of my airbox, i like the sound but im debating if it feels better or worse, for the safe sake i'll probably put it back on soon, it sounds cool but other than that i feel no difference, if any i would say it hurts more than helps, hot air from motor has to be sucked in with it sitting right there.

i did a little study on this issue and found taking the cover off increased intake temperature by at least 40F in summer during a 15 minutes freeway cruising, while stock air intake increased by no more than 20F. with this data, it's hard to believe taking off the lid will improve performance.
my ghetto solution to cold air intake is to insulate the intake box and top of radiator with aluminum. with this set up, i am able to achieve zero( or close to zero) temperature gain compared to ambient temperature.
if you want loud exhaust without power loss, just chop off the resonance box connected to the air filter housing. this will increase exhausted significantly especially above 5K rpm.
