Still hard/impossible to test drive... :(
I found a local (OK, 25 miles away) dealer on the MSRP list that has a used 2000 in stock that they "might let me ride in" because they don't want people "just taking one for a drive."
Does anyone know of any Colorado Honda dealers that don't have an attitude? I mean come on, I'm 35, and I drive a car I could almost trade in straight-up for the S2000 (a 2001 Audi TT 225), it's not like I'm 16 and driving my parents' car... sheesh.
And I'm also not going to put down a deposit and order a car just to test drive one...

I was 19 when I first drove an s2000. It was used and the salesman that sold me my last car went with me. The one I bought was mine before I had a chance to test drive it.

I put down the deposit before I test drove. I sat in one, went over the features, and knew I'd love to drive the car based on how the car was reviewed in car magazines.
If you were buying one, would YOU want one that was test driven?
I don't think it's an attitude thing.

I test drove one at Team Honda in Colorado Springs. I was interested in possibly ordering the car for delivery in the summer. There was a Sterling Silver S2000 available at the time. Chad, our salesman, was very happy to take my wife out for a spin first (she doesn't drive a stick). When he returned, he got out and let me take my wife out also. My wife really loved the car. She suggested that we go ahead and get this one instead of ordering it for later. Talk to Chad. I am sure that he would let you take one for a test drive, if a car is available. Tell him Robert L. sent you.

Call the salesperson and tell him you're busy so you'd like to make an appointment with him to see the S2000 (you don't have to mention test drive over the phone). I usually tell salespeople that I'll be in town for only a few days before I have to head back out on a business trip. Put on something nicer than a t-shirt and jeans and he'll definitely let you take it for a spin.
Setting up an appointment is the key for test driving nice cars. Porsche 911's, Mercedes SL500s, whatever...

I dont remember how many miles were on the car I drove, but the sales guy was pumped up. He drove it first VTEC and all, then encouraged me to do so. Needless to say, that car was left on the dealers lot, thank you very much.

(Lord knows the salespeople probably VTEC the things on the way out of the lot with a whole 15 miles on the clock...)
