I've done this on mine, too. works great! the only problem is that the heat the top gathers in the sun can compromise the adhesive. not sure about the fix yet.

Honda has found many creative ways to put holes in a rag top. That's certainly one.

I picked up 2 sheets of sticky felt from walmart in the crafts section last night. I will use these in the impending top install next week or so and post here as welll...

good info...i have been using the "soft" side of velcro strips for this and some of the various S2000 squeaks. Sticky felt never crossed my mind, I didn't know such things even existed. Guess I should pay more attention the next time I am unwillingly dragged into a craft store!

Does the adhesive simply become gooey and pliable (thus allowing the felt patch to slide around) or does the adhesive harden and flake off?

Mine became gooey and pliable, and eventually fell off after a few weeks. The patches of vinyl a convertible top shop placed in for me with fabric adhesive is still there after 2 years.

I also used the felt for the seat belt squeaks when I bought the car (working great so far).

For the top, I'm not sure how much protection the felt really offers. It is very thin and easy to pull apart, and the glue layer is actually probably the strongest part. I did put some on the top, but I took it off a month later to get my top replaced under warranty, so I don't know how effective it would have been long-term.
