I feel like if I need to do some quick emergency braking, I would probably have to stand on them to get a strong bite on the brakes.

To answer your question, Endless SS-S pads. Outstanding. I've used them for a while on my Evo now and I love them.

For those that have changed their brake pads already, which one do you recommend if you changed from the OEM pads. I think the brakes in this car are pretty weak. They bite less than the ones on my old '91 celica even. With my celica, I barely have to step on them before they start biting hard and slow the car down. Right now I don't wanna spend the big bucks on the full rotor/brake kits.
Would changing to steel braided brake lines help??
Edit: Oops, posted to Car Talk. Can a mod please move to S2K talk?

00-03 pads give quite a bit less initial bite than the 04 pads on an 04. I suspect that you felt less initial bite due to improper bedding of the pads. Jarod, I might suggest that you try either the Carbotech Panther or Cobalt GT-sport. both give better bite with increased dust although not a huge amount over the stock 04 pads.
I think the 04 has great bite though, better than the previous cars. You may have glazed the pads or osmething? you could try taking them off and sanding them down and then rebedding them, as well.
