Stereo Install (Big!)
#23
Wow, this post just won't die
flava: No. I have found the standard box, while ugly as hell, quite practical. I just remove it when I need extra trunk space.
Honda Gal@s2ki: No problem, the images will remain there indefinitely.
All the rest: I'm working in London for the next few months and the car is in storage. I'll be back mid-April, but on business. If there is something planned April 17-22, I might be able to make it.
PS: I really miss my friggin' car

Taylor,
I'd suggest you use Pinky's mod. He uses a simular device and does all the programming, plus he'll make the mute button work. My installer had to do something with the cellphone mute lead. The PAC device does not work with the mute.

I knew that was coming.
I'd have to actually send Pinky my harness.. the stereo is already in the car. I'm not going through that hassle, of taking it apart, shipping it, going back to the stock deck while I wait 1-2 weeks to get my unit back, then install the deck again.
I've read the docs on the SWI-3, it's not that difficult to program. BTW there is a bulletin on their site indicating how to make the mute work on the S2000.
If Pinky could send me his unit and I could program it for the same price or better, I'd consider it. But he's not doing that and I'd still have to deal with customs and international shipping. Looks like PAC has a Canadian dealer I hope I can order from.
I think what Pinky worked so hard on 18 months ago was great and it was also the only known option. But even back then when there was no other option, it wasn't worth it to me. $150US + the hassle is too rich for my blood. I've done stereo installs before, I'm sure I can handle this PAC unit. If it's a pain in the ass, I'll be sure to give Pinky's plug-n-play mod resounding support.
One is a DIYer.. the other is a pass-it-to-your-installer-and-get-your-car-back-in-an-hour job.
I prefer to learn from my mistakes Those of you who are unsure.. go with the plug-n-play.

Zoinks,
Did you listen to the Q-series? While you went all out, you should have considered spending a bit more on their high-end. For a 2-way set, those Q's are fabulous...
(I still prefer my Dynaudios but those MB Quart Q's impressed the heck outta me!)
