stereo code help
well i got my car today.. wooooooooo... but one little problem, my stereo has a code and the dealer i got it from didnt give me the code and they keep telling me that they cant get it... i called a couple of honda dealers but they keep telling me that i have to have my stereo taken out because the code is in the back, and that would cost 100 bucks... is there any way to avoid this 100 loss, can i figure out a different way to get the code???
thanks

They are full of shit at the stealerships that you are talking to. I just had one reset 3 days ago. All I needed was the car, registation with my name and I.D. and they looked up the code in their database and promptly entered it for me. Oh, and it was all free!

open the radio door, grasp it firmly in your hands and give it a nice tug.
the radio cover should come off along with the vents right above it.
from this point all you need is to know how to use a screwdriver.
the radio serial # is taped onto the case. give that number to the parts counterman. he'll give you the code.

And remember, pull on the flip down door, not the radio itself. The whole trim piece + vents will pop out. Stereo is held by two phillips head screws. Takes 5 minutes and super easy. Put your shifter in 4th gear so you don't scratch it. And put a towel down to reduce scuffs on your trim.

The (original) selling dealer should have the 5 digit code (1 thru 6) it is only that because you have 6 radio station buttons. There would have been a radio code card given to the original owner, that card is recommended to been stored anywhere but not in the car due to a possible breakin, if that card was not made availble to you, most likely the original owner still has it. You should be able to get that contact info from the dealer, I'd offer to do it but I don't believe Canada's system links with the US. Failing that you will have to pull the radio, its on the back!
