Steps for out of state purchase
#13
i had the same issue when i purchased my s2k. It was in texas. Since production had stopped the only way i was gonna be able to get the one that i wanted specifically was if a dealer had it in stock. I looked at the pictures and asked alot of questions regarding the vehicle but there were still issues that needed to be addressed. the best option is to get a plane ticket and fly in to see the vehicle. I wasnt as smart, lol. i drove 11 hours to get to the dealership to purchase the vehicle. There was some scrapes on the bottom lip of the bumper (which was no big deal cause i do paint and body on vehicle for a living) even though its not a problem remember your buying a vehicle from a dealership it should be nice and have no mechanical or other fees to pay once the deal is made. I ended up not getting it that day due to the top being damaged as well. A week later they try to drop inventory and reduce the price by 3 grand and replaced the top due to a service bulletin. moral of the story? dont just buy for the sake of buying or that you traveled a long way. good things come to those who wait. I went back bought the car and couldnt be happier. sorry for the long ass post.

if the seller is cool they will take it into a dealer (or good independent mechanic) and get a thorough inspection done. i did that once for an out of state buyer when i sold my dad's car. of course, buyer pays for the inspection fee.
