Default Steering wheel shake on full lock?

A friend of mine has an AP1, and for some reason, when the car is at a stand still, and it goes to full lock (left or right) the steering shakes on it's own.

But nothing happens in the wheels.

Any idea? I was thinking maybe the power steering pump was going bad, and so at full lock it can't produce enough fluid.

I'm not sure if the MY02's were EPS like the AP2's or not though

"...it goes into full lock..." is not very descriptive. Are you holding it in full lock or are you holding it "hard" in full lock? If you're "hard over" and it oscillates, just back off. Lots of mechanical (read "not electric") power steering units will oscillate when being held hard over. That's not a normal design state for the steering.

well I've got the wheel turned all the right or left, without holding it.
